Suitcase packed
Tickets in hand
Ready to head off
To distant lands
Packing is done
The kids were no help
The dog bounces round
With a triumphant yelp
Weather checked
Adjustments made
Won’t let the weather
Ruin our day
Excitement mounting
Taxi due
Ready to see
Somewhere new
Horn from outside
We make a quick dash
Thrusting suitcases
Into the boot with a crash
The laden car lurches forward
With questionable stability
We glance at each other
Is this a liability?
Then over the horizon
Just out of reach
We finally get a view
Of that wonderful beach
Family together
Precious time
These are the memories
That will live in our minds

If this presages a holiday, have fun!
Thanks Geoff. Just inspired by Marsha’s travel prompt. Although we do have a few days in London booked in a couple of weeks time, so I’m excited for that. 🙂 KL ❤
Enjoy the capital. We need more visitors!!
Lovely!
Thank you 🙂 KL ❤
🙂
Are we there yet?
Haha, luckily we’ve not cottoned onto that yet. Although I suspect it’s just a matter of time. KL ❤
I’m ready to go too! I could picture the entire poem in my mind 🙂 Thank you for that imagery. I love the beach so much. Great use of my prompt too ❤
Thank you so much for the kind comment. Haha, it’s always frantic, organised, chaos in my house when setting off on holiday. KL ❤
You’re welcome! Mine is that way too, except it’s the dogs that pull all the shenanigans 😀
Fantastic and love the flow of the rhyme! 😊
Thank you :). KL ❤
What a fantastic poem KL. Great quote selection. Love the Tolkien one. 💖
It’s one of my favourites 🙂 . Thanks, Sadje. KL ❤
My pleasure
You did a fabulous job of combining all those challenges, KL. Very talented – and I love the poem. 🙂 I love both of your quotes, too. that last one may become a permanent one for me.
Thank you Marsha, I loved both quotes and couldn’t decide between them. I don’t always get time to join in all the challenges I’d like to so this seemed a good opportunity. 🙂 . KL ❤
I know exactly what you mean, KL. Combining them is the way to go. You get close to people after a while, and you don’t want to let anyone down by not playing! But you have to live and breathe. I’m so glad you are finding a way to do that. Well done!
Nicely done!
Thank you. KL ❤
Great poem, KL! I love the lively rhythm and the consistency of the rhymes 🙂
